Fala Pratika is an Indonesian filmmaker, writer, and researcher
with a background in philosophy from Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Her practice brings filmmaking into conversation with critical
inquiry, with a sustained interest in women’s experiences in
Indonesia and the social structures that shape them.

Working across fiction and documentary, she takes on different
roles in the filmmaking process, including directing, writing,
and producing. Her work engages with questions of memory,
gender, family, and cultural representation.

Alongside her creative practice, Fala researches women in
Indonesian cinema, particularly horror and exploitation films
from the New Order era. Her academic interests include feminist
film theory, spectatorship, and philosophical approaches to
cinematic images.

Her practice is informed by the belief that filmmaking and
research can illuminate personal experiences while examining
the broader structures through which those experiences
acquire meaning.
